Hello. We've probably never met before, but we're glad you're here.
StoryImprov was launched, in a beta mode, just over a year ago. In that time, we've posted some terrible writing (and some not so terrible), found a few writers who submitted better work than we could, crafted some stories, and had a lot of fun.
We've also cleaned up some of the nooks and crannies of the site, fixed some broken links, and painted the shutters, getting everything ready for you.
Now we're opening the doors wider. Thanks for coming in.
Here is what you'll want to do. First, don't be afraid. A good friend reviewed this site and told me that it sounded fun, but the slogan “Write Before Our Eyes” intimidated him, and he would be hesitant to post his own work. Having submitted some really bad prose that I'd just as soon purge from our servers forever, I can understand that sentiment. But I'll be quick to point out that if you are interested in being a better writer, you aren't going to get there in a closet. I hope to improve my skills as we go forward. Don't be afraid to improve with me.
You'll probably want to look into our private group options. You can set up your own StoryImprov stories and invite just your friends to play, so the rest of us can't read your work. Only those close to you will be able to point and laugh.
Also, if a full chapter seems daunting, jump into the blog mini-games, which are quick bits of fun creativity for those slow moments in the day.
If you are a graphic designer, our stories can use some artwork. Check the story threads to see how to post the cover art of these amazing works of prose. If the process isn't clear, shoot a message to editor@storyimprov.com and I'll try to explain it.
You can even suggest a new story if you'd like. In fact, that would be a good idea. My idea factory has been going through some Michigan layoffs and I don't have many stories in the queue. Write a chapter 1 and email it to editor@storyimprov.com, and if it works for us, I'll post it for you.
Finally, be sure to hit the “Share” button to let your friends know. This will all be much more fun with them around.
Thanks for stopping by. We look forward to seeing more of you in the coming days.

Matt:
My friend and ingenious co-founder. There is no IMDB reference to Passenger 75. That's because that classic pre-tax-evading-Wesley Snipes movie was called "Passenger 57."
