Homesick

A few days ago, I glibly commented to my wife that nobody in our family has been sick in the past few years. It was a foolish comment to make.

Shortly afterwards, we watched a bit of the movie Nanny McPhee and laughed at the scene where the children were magically relegated to bed for the day.

“To be in bed for an entire day,” I said. “That would be great.”

You can see where this is going. I’ll spare you the details.

I am now nearly a week into my flu recovery and while I had hoped to spend time with nothing to do but drink 7-Up and write for StoryImprov, I ended up just lying in bed. Now, finally, I’m back on the site.

Interestingly, things haven’t changed much at all. There are a few new footprints on the plush carpet, according to Google Analytics, but no new writing contributions. The Detroit story is getting a bit dusty with neglect. I’m not saying anything, but if we had gone with the Canada-Invades-For-The-Stanley-Cup idea for chapter 2, things would be hopping right about now.

So it is time to spruce things up for the summer. In the next few days, even while the Detroit story is still working to resolution, I’ll introduce some new stories so that if any particular one doesn’t catch your fancy, some others probably will. I will also invite stuit back to write a new chapter 1 for the next Dark Waters story. He gave us the likes of Stane and Epee and I’d like to get back into that world. Finally, I’ll get in on the next Motor City chapter and invite you to do the same.

In the meantime, our private group activity has been growing behind the scenes, so a hearty welcome to the private groupers. We’re glad to have you here.

For now, it is time to try to salvage a holiday weekend.

Write on.
