With all of the chapters to submit and blog games to play, sometimes it is just fun to do some free association creativity.
Here's the place.
I'll give you a topic, and you can post whatever you like as it relates to that topic. Submit prose, poetry, play scripts, or even just a few beautiful words. Just give me something interesting to read, for cryin' out loud. The internets are full of yawns.
Here's your topic:
Childhood Dreams

The Bus Ride Home

I have grown old now, too much so to easily remember those wanderings of my childhood mind. For too long, I have bent my thought on budgets, project, business, and responsibility.
Too quickly we leave behind the youth we worked so hard to outgrow.
I do remember, however, in my younger school days, becoming aware that the world stretched beyond my sight, that it was filled with people I would never know living stories I would never hear. I sat on the bus on those winter afternoons, returning home from school, staring sleepily out the window. As we passed the neighborhood cross-streets, I would imagine that I had a pet flea, so small that no one else knew of him, and I would send him flying down those snowy streets to see and to hear snippits of those stories. He would return to me a few streets later, and whisper in my ear the tales of children he saw.
Then he would fly down the next street to discover more.
Funny, I don't remember what he told me. I don't know what I imagined those people doing or saying that would be worth the reconnaissance of my flea. That was never the important part. It was just inspiring to know that the world I lived in, which consisted mainly of a house, three streets, a school, and a church, was not all that there was. The wide world is out there, Frodo, so the elf said.
Today I look around at the beige cubicle walls resting on beige carpet beneath beige drop ceiling tiles, and I hope in a foolishly juvenile way that my flea is still flying and will come back to me soon with new stories and new inspiration.
