Re-Awakening

Todo Baggypants found the gate into Michigan this weekend and dropped his Bean Of Power into the big lake. The trees exploded overnight from misty green buds to full-blown summer leaves, which are now dancing in the cool spring breeze, content to forget that autumn is coming.

The late-blooming oaks have held off, giving the Maples their day of glory, planning soon to step to the table, clear their throats, and announce, "You think that was good? Watch this." They look conspicuous today, naked and pale among the spring-green bursting around them.

"Patience," they whisper to each other. "Let’s not be too hasty."

My daughter has decided that today is a good day to have a picnic in the park. I think she is right. I have much too much work to do, but today I’ll play with my family in the cool spring breeze, content to forget that tomorrow is coming.
