Father's Day Card Writing

Father's day recently came and went and I spent far too much time on Saturday afternoon looking for a card for my father.

May I offer my nomination for Hallmark's Father's Day Card Division as the poorest writers of the day?

With so many classy ways to extend good wishes to a father on Father's Day, the vast majority of the cards I saw followed this basic theme: “Dad, you are gassy and lazy. Happy Father's Day”.

Are these the depths into which we've fallen? I won't deny that there may be some men who would find humor in this, but it sounds like a risky proposition at best, and if opened on a bad day when the humor is overlooked, most of these cards are just insulting.

Maybe my problem is that I had a dad who worked very hard to give me great opportunities and to make sure that I left the house knowing how to speak to a lady, change a flat tire, and play the low post. As problems go, it is far better than many people have, I understand. In fact, I understand it so well that I passed by all the insulting cards and found one that simply thanked him for a job well done.
